The US assumes that around 200,000 Russians have already been killed or wounded in the war against Ukraine. There are corresponding calculations, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said yesterday at the Munich Security Conference. Also, there are over a million Russians who left their country because they didn’t want to be a part of the war.
Thousands or more companies have stopped doing business in Russia for fear of reputational damage. “Look what Putin has done to his country,” Blinken said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
30,000 members of Wagner’s troops affected
According to US government estimates, about 9,000 soldiers of the Wagner mercenary group were killed in the Ukraine war. About half the men have fallen since mid-December, National Security Council communications director John Kirby said Friday at the White House.
According to US intelligence, around 30,000 of Wagner’s troops have been wounded or killed since the war began nearly a year ago. War zone information can hardly be verified by an independent party.
