The United States Coast Guard Service (SGC) today turned back a group of 69 irregular migrants through the port of Orozco in Bahía Honda, Artemisa province, reports the Ministry of the Interior (Minint).

These individuals (61 men and eight women), most of whom lived in Havana and Matanzas, had participated in illegal exits from the country and were intercepted at sea by the SGC.

Another four people returned from the Cayman Islands via Santiago de Cuba’s Antonio Maceo Airport last Saturday, according to the report published on the ministry’s official website.

This means that 1,716 people have been repatriated to Cuba in 18 actions so far this year.

Cuba reiterates its commitment to regular, safe and orderly migration and reiterates its warning of the dangers and life-threatening conditions posed by illegal exits from the country by sea, the Minint note concludes.
