US and Europe support Israel and call on other countries to stay out

In a statement, the countries say the Hamas group offers Palestinians nothing but terror and bloodshed

Leaders from France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States expressed their support for Israel this Monday (October 9, 2023) and condemned Hamas for its “terrorist actions.” The countries said the group does not represent the Palestinian people and pledged to support the Jewish state against the extremist group’s offensive. In a joint statement by world leaders, including President Emmanuel Macron (France), Chancellor Olaf Scholz (Germany), Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni (Italy), Prime Minister Rishi Sunak (United Kingdom) and President Joe Biden (United States) they promised to support Israel in its selfdefense efforts and the “protection of its people.”

“Let us be clear that Hamas’s terrorist actions have no justification or legitimacy and must be universally condemned. “There is never any justification for terrorism,” an excerpt from the document reads. They also said this was not the time for an “antiIsrael party” to exploit the attacks.

The statement cited attacks by the extremist group Hamas that began on Saturday morning (October 7), including the deaths of more than 200 people at the Universo Paralello electronic music festival near the Gaza Strip and the abduction of “elderly women and children.” and entire families now being held hostage.”

This Monday (October 9), Hamas threatened to execute Israeli hostages in retaliation for any Israeli attack that hits civilian targets in Gaza without prior warning. The statement was made by Abu Obaida, spokesman for the organization’s military wing, in statements broadcast on Al Jazeera channel.

In the coming days, the countries said they would remain “united and coordinated” as allies and “friends” of Israel to ensure its defense. They said they recognized the “legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people,” but that Hamas did not represent those aspirations and was only contributing to “more terror and bloodshed.”
