New York, Tass U.S. and European officials have begun talking with their Ukrainian counterparts about possible peace talks with Russia and what Kiev may have to give up to reach an agreement, NBC television reported, citing U.S. officials.

They began “discreetly speaking with the Ukrainian government about what possible peace talks with Russia might include” to end the conflict, the report said.

“The discussions included general guidelines on what Ukraine may have to give up to reach an agreement,” he said.

Some of the negotiations took place last month, NBC said. According to the report, they reflect concerns that the conflict has stalled and that it is not possible to continue providing aid to Ukraine.

Officials said: “Ukraine will likely only have until the end of the year or shortly thereafter to begin more urgent discussions on peace talks,” NBC said.

CONTINUED AFTER RECOMMENDATIONS

Russia has repeatedly expressed its opinion on the situation surrounding Ukraine at various levels. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow has always been open to a diplomatic solution to the crisis and is ready to respond to serious proposals, while the Kiev regime has stopped and banned negotiations with Russia.
