US Border Patrol agents arrested a large group of migrants in Sector del Rio this Wednesday, including 112 Cubans.
At around 10:45 p.m., an autonomous watchtower in Normandy spotted the group of 171 migrants in the Eagle Pass area.
In addition to the 112 Cubans, the group included 24 people from Venezuela, 18 from Colombia, 13 from Peru, three from Nicaragua and one from Chile.

The migrants were transferred to the Eagle Pass South station for processing in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection guidelines.
From the beginning of last October of fiscal year 2022 through February, Del Rio Sector agents arrested 153,271 migrants.
In the case of the Cubans, the number of migrants intercepted at the border in March doubled the 16,500 that arrived in February.
The March number exceeds 32,000 Cuban migrantsan alarming avalanche of migration on the scale of the Mariel exodus of 1980.
In late March, the number of Cubans arrested at the US-Mexico border in one day also hit a record 1,500, a number more than double the daily average since February.
Adding to the alarming increase in Cuban migrants arriving at the southern border of the United States are families with children and unaccompanied minorswho undertake dangerous journeys such as crossing the Darien Jungle between Colombia and Panama or crossing the Rio Grande.
In just five months of fiscal year 2022, which began in October, a total of 46,752 Cuban immigrants entered through border crossings with Mexico.
