US House of Commons probes Bidens’ financial activities

Legislature Oversight Chairman James Comer announced his panel will hold a hearing next Friday to find out the reasons why the Treasury Department failed to provide banking reports on Hunter and James Biden, the President’s son and brother respectively various family members.

Records held in Treasury Department custody have long been a prime target for Comer, a Kentucky Republican who has vowed to investigate the Bidens’ foreign financial and business dealings, The Hill newspaper reports.

Though his inquiries went unanswered when House Republicans were in the minority, Comer now has the committee’s mighty gavel as an ally.

On several occasions, the congressman pointed to bank reports as evidence of possible wrongdoing by members of the president’s family, but they are inconclusive, reports CNN.

“At next week’s hearing, a Treasury Department official can explain to Congress and the American people why he is withholding important information,” Comer said in his statement.

Jonathan C. Davidson, assistant secretary for legislative affairs at the Treasury Department, is expected to testify at Friday’s hearing.
