“On the evening of November 10, an American military aircraft conducting training operations in the Eastern Mediterranean suffered an accident and crashed,” he said in a statement, which did not provide details on the fate of the person(s) on board.

“We can say with certainty that the flight of the aircraft was exclusively for training purposes and that there is no evidence of hostile activity,” adds the text, which assures that “the cause of the incident was training and is currently under investigation.”

Information about the machine type and destination was not provided.

The United States has deployed an aircraft carrier and other warships in the eastern Mediterranean near the Middle East to prevent the war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas from escalating into a regional conflict.

After Hamas’ attack in Israel on October 7, which Israeli officials said killed more than 1,200 people, Washington quickly provided military support to Israel.

Since then, the Israeli army has carried out an air, land and sea response in the Gaza Strip that has killed more than 11,000 people, according to the Hamas Health Ministry.
