The non-governmental organization (NGO) Gun Violence Archive announced on Tuesday that more than 150 people were killed and 340 injured by gunfire in the United States (US) in the first three days of 2023.
According to the real-time updated database of this NGO, 151 people were accidentally or deliberately shot, resulting in their lives.
The GVA report says 198 people have committed suicide with firearms since the start of the new year, bringing the total number of deaths to 349.

He added that among the fatalities were three children under the age of 11 and 13 teenagers. Among the injured are three children and 36 teenagers.
The GVA database, which is updated using information released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and 7,500 other sources, already lists seven mass shootings.
Five of these occurred on January 1st and the rest on January 3rd. The first took place in the cities of Chicago (Illinois), Durham (North Carolina), Columbus (Ohio), Allentown (New Jersey) and Ocala (Florida), while the rest were in Washington (District of Columbia) and New Orleans (Louisiana). .
In 2022, GVA reported more than 45,000 gun deaths, more than 41,000 injuries and 690 mass shootings.
According to GVA CEO Mark Bryant, some casualty numbers were down in 2022 compared to 2021, as has been the case with mass shootings.
However, it drew attention to the fact that at least one mass shooting occurs every day, that more than 20,000 Americans have been killed through the use of firearms, and that children tend to be killed by their parents.
