US intelligence agencies estimate that between 100 and 300 people were killed in the attack on Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza on Tuesday. This emerges from a report by the US Directorate of National Intelligence (ODNI).
The Palestinian radical Islamic organization Hamas, which governs the Gaza Strip, reported more than 470 deaths and blamed Israel for the bombing. The Israeli army blamed Islamic Jihad and said it provided “evidence” to support this account.
European secret services said on Wednesday that not hundreds, but “a few dozen more” people were killed. The anonymous source highlighted that the building was not destroyed. The hospital had likely been evacuated before, she said. There is “no evidence” that there were hundreds of people in the parking lot in front of it.
The US intelligence document also states that “Israel probably did not bomb the hospital.” The US was working to “prove that the explosion was caused by a misguided Islamic Jihad missile”. According to US intelligence, there was no damage to the main building or impact craters.
