American fighter jets intercepted four Russian planes near Alaska for the second time this week, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said on Tuesday.

This “routine” interception of Russian aircraft, including models of the Tu-95 heavy bomber and Su-30 and Su-35 fighters, took place on Tuesday, Norad said in a statement.
This is an operation consisting of escorting a potentially competing aircraft that is deemed too close to or has invaded an airspace.
“The Russian plane stayed in international airspace and did not enter US or Canadian sovereign airspace,” he added.
A wiretapping operation had already been carried out on Monday, which already affected four Russian aircraft near Alaska.
Tuesday’s operation is unrelated to those that led to the Americans shooting down three unidentified flying objects in the previous days.
