USA: Abortion Returns to Arizona, Appellate Court Blocks Ban Ultima Ora

(ANSA) — NEW YORK, OCTOBER 7 — Abortions can resume in Arizona, at least for now. This was found by the state Court of Appeals, siding with Planned Parenthood and effectively blocking the passed law that almost completely banned abortion and mandated a maximum of 15 weeks for an abortion.

It’s unclear whether the state will pursue further appeals to enforce the near-total abortion ban imposed after the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade, the historic 1973 ruling that legalized abortion in the country.

A court in Ohio also blocked the abortion ban after six weeks until various legal disputes surrounding the law are resolved. With the decision, abortions remain legally binding up to the 22nd week.

“We’re celebrating victory in a fight, but our work is far from over,” says Iri Harvey, Planned Parenthood, Ohio’s number one. (HAND).
