Deadly flooding continues to ravage the US state of Kentucky on Saturday, July 30th. The disaster has already claimed the lives of 25 people and authorities fear more deaths.
The pictures are impressive. The water has devastated Kentucky (USA) and only the roofs of the houses can be seen. The property damage is very large, many cars have overturned due to the violence of the floods. Many roads were also destroyed and made impassable. The residents of the American state were caught and taken aback by the violence of the torrent of water that swamped them.
Kentucky residents are trying to get home, but the water hasn’t receded yet. Doubt is palpable and most worry they will never be able to return to their homes. “I don’t know if one day we’ll be able to live in our houses again, maybe never,” says one resident, close to tears. Governor Andy Beshear bemoans the fact that some locations are simply inaccessible to firefighters. Kentucky had previously experienced a terrible tornado in December 2021.
