(ANSA) — WASHINGTON, July 14 — The man who raped a 10-year-old girl in Ohio who was then forced to go to another state to have an abortion has been convicted. A dramatic story that was also mentioned by US President Joe Biden when he signed the enforcement order protecting abortion rights after the Supreme Court decision.
Gerson Fuentes, 27, was arrested two days ago and confessed to raping the child twice. The girl had to go to Indiana to have an abortion because her state of Ohio bans abortions from the sixth week, when many women don’t even know they’re pregnant. “Try to put yourself in this little girl’s shoes, she’s only 10,” Biden said of the shocking story. Republican-led Indiana is also heading for an abortion shortage next month after the Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade ruling. (HAND).
