The former US president beats the former South Carolina governor 54.9% to 43.2%: “In November we will have a great election and turn this country upside down.” I can't wait for Biden, the worst Presidents in our country’s history.”
FROM OUR REPORTER
NASHUA (NEW HAMPSHIRE) – Donald Trump has won the Republican primary in New Hampshire. An expected victory against Nikki Haley – the former governor of South Carolina, however, has no intention of withdrawing from the race – which the media confirmed with 54.9% against 43.2% (with 91% of the votes counted).
It was Nikki Haley who spoke first, when the vote was still at 20% and the gap between the two was about 7 percentage points smaller: “I want to congratulate Trump on his victory.” He deserves it. But the race is not over.” She thanked voters “for the love you showed me in New Hampshire” and Governor Chris Sununu, who stood by her “like a true friend at every single event.” Above all, the former governor of South Carolina has assured that she will not retire: the next stop will be “her” state at the end of February.
The former American president immediately expressed his anger at Truth via social media: “Haley said she would win in New Hampshire.” He didn't!!! Imaginative!!! Last week she came third. A little later, in an aggressive speech to his rival at the party organized at the Sheraton in Nashua, Trump reiterated: “He didn't win.” He lost. He spoke like he had won, but he was having a bad night. He said he's going to South Carolina now, but first he's going to Nevada on February 8th, and I can tell you right now that I've already won in Nevada. If she won the nomination, within 15 minutes she would be under investigation for the little things she doesn't want to talk about. “The one in New Hampshire is the most important win because it comes to Iowa,” Trump continued. We're going to have a great election in November and we're going to turn this country upside down. I can't wait to run against the worst president in the history of our country.” The Donald then reiterated that Haley “should quit the race or we'll have to keep wasting money instead of spending it on Biden, which is our goal.”
Joining Trump on stage were businessman Vivek Ramaswamy and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, former rivals in the Republican primaries, who announced their support for the tycoon. And speaking about Howie Carr Show guest Scott, Trump hinted that the South Carolina senator could be his choice for the role of vice president: “He's the person I have in mind.”
Trump has not yet won the nomination, but no candidate who won both Iowa and New Hampshire has failed to do so. New Hampshire was the state that marked the tycoon's first victory in the Republican primary in 2016, in a much tighter field of candidates than this. Today, Haley was looking for her “momentum,” her drive for the next challenges, right here. She is the former US president's only competitor, but is far behind in the polls in all states that will take part in the primaries in the coming months (including South Carolina). However, in your speech yesterday you said: “At one point there were 14 candidates, I was at 2%.” Now we are the last ones left besides Donald Trump. For me it's not personal, I voted for him twice, but a Trump nomination is a Biden win. This race is far from over.
Also noteworthy is Joe Biden's “symbolic” victory in the Democratic primaries in New Hampshire, in which the American president did not officially take part. Biden came first as a “write-in” candidate, meaning he voted with a preference that was not preprinted on the ballot. The New Hampshire Democratic primary actually took place outside of the Democratic Party's new calendar. But the state rebelled by holding it anyway: As a “sanction,” New Hampshire will have no delegates. “Trump will clearly be the Republican nominee” in the November presidential election, Biden said in a statement. My message to the country is clear: the stakes could not be higher. This is about our democracy, our personal freedoms, from the right to vote to the right to vote. Our economy, which has managed the strongest recovery in the world after Covid. Everything is at stake.
