Bloody return to Iowa. As 2024 has just begun, a new tragedy has been added to the numerous shootings that the United States regularly mourns. Once again, a high school is the scene of a shooting. The shooter claimed “several victims” on Thursday morning, local police said, without saying clearly whether they were dead or injured.
“There is no longer any danger to the public,” Sheriff Adam Infante told the press, confirming that the attacker had been identified by authorities but declining to provide further details about his identity or health.
First day of class
Adam Infante said the presence of a gunman was reported around 7:37 a.m. local time. Police arrived “within seven minutes” and “located multiple gunshot victims.” We don't know exactly how many [de personnes] are injured […] but we are working on it,” he said. “Fortunately, there were very few high school students and teachers in school” as classes started early, he added.
According to local media, it was the first day of recovery after the winter holidays. In May 2022, a man killed 19 students and 2 teachers at Robb Elementary School in the city of Uvalde, Texas. Schools and high schools are regularly the scene of shootings in the United States, but this habit does not change the tragedy.
