Shock in Brooklyn: A 10monthold girl died of a heroin and fentanyl overdose and the baby’s father, son of writer Paul Auster, has been charged with murder, the New York Times reports.
Little girl Ruby Auster was found unconscious in a house on Bergen Street, Park Slope on November 1 and later died in hospital. The autopsy revealed the cause of death was “acute poisoning” by drugs. Father Daniel, 44, was charged with manslaughter but police did not provide details on how the child came into contact with drugs.
26 years ago, the son of the “New York Trilogy” author was involved in a notorious murder case in which Michael Alig and his accomplice killed drug dealer Andrew Melendez and then dumped the body in the Hudson. Auster later claimed he stole $3,000 from Melendez and was given a suspended sentence.
