A Florida teenager was sentenced to life in prison on Friday for stabbing a classmate. The crime happened on Mother’s Day in 2021.
16yearold Aiden Fucci stabbed 13yearold Tristyn Bailey 114 times. The boy was 14 years old when he murdered the cheerleader, whose body was found in a forest in the city of Jacksonville.
The verdict was rendered by Judge Lee R. Smith, who called it “the most serious case” St. Johns has ever handled. Fucci pleaded guilty before his trial began in February this year and his sentence could be reviewed in 25 years.
Forest Bailey, Tristyn’s father, made a very moving statement to his family after the judge rendered his verdict on the 16yearold’s conviction. He explained that everyone is very proud of who she was in life.
“Tristyn, I wanted you to know that we are very proud of the person you were in your time here,” he said. “We saw that you did your best when you went out into the world. You should be proud of the friend you were, the teammate you were, what you left behind.”
“We are very grateful for this result and believe it is the right verdict given the heinous nature of the crime and Aiden’s attitude toward it.”

Another very impressive attitude during the hearings came from Alexis Bailey, Tristyn’s older sister. On Wednesday (24th) she began her testimony by placing 114 stone hearts in a jar in reference to every stab her sister suffered.
“Aiden Fucci not only took Tristyn’s life that day, he took everything from us,” she said during the hearing. Alexis also pointed out that she has been suffering from posttraumatic stress since the murder, which took place about two years ago.
