Used electronic devices are popular among Quebecers

According to a NETendances survey, Quebecers seem to be less and less interested in buying a smartphone or computer straight out of the box, opting instead for refurbished used devices.

According to the Digital Portrait of Quebec Households survey, 55% of consumers in Quebec who want to buy an electronic device plan to buy a refurbished used model.

This trend would be even stronger among young people, as 77% of 18-24 year olds and 80% of 25-34 year olds plan to use second-hand goods when making such a purchase.

If Quebecers earning less than $20,000 are more likely (69%) to consider putting money into a refurbished device, the same is true for 62% of those earning more than $20,000. $100,000, which shows that their budget is not the only reason for this choice.

“Other considerations, particularly environmental ones, may come into play when deciding to purchase a device whose environmental footprint is much less significant,” pointed out Director of Business Intelligence and Marketing Research at ATN, Claire. Bourget.

Whatever happens, purchases of electronic devices are unlikely to decline, with more than a third of adults in Quebec acknowledging that the time they spend in front of a screen has increased in the last year.
