SALT LAKE CITY — Utah health officials reported 37 COVID-19 deaths Thursday, along with 152 new cases.

33 of those deaths occurred before February 24 and were discovered due to the recent fall in case numbers, which has allowed epidemiologists to see older death certificates.

The seven-day moving average for positive tests is now 124 per day, showing a steady decline. The seven-day average for people who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently 4.7% and has been stable for a few days after falling from a peak of 46.7% on Jan. 27.

The health department reported another 3,242 people tested for COVID-19 and 2,138 vaccines administered.

Currently, 74.8% of Utah residents older than 5 years of age who are eligible for vaccination have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 66.4% are considered fully vaccinated. Of those over 12 years of age who are eligible for a booster shot, 33.7% have received a booster shot.

Schoolchildren account for 25 of the new cases. Of these cases, four were children between the ages of 5 and 10, seven between the ages of 11 and 13, and 14 between the ages of 14 and 17.

There are currently 109 people hospitalized with COVID-19 across the state, including 20 in intensive care units, according to the health department.
