Vacuum cleaner race and mop relay: tough competition at the household Olympics

The teams gave their best on Monday to win gold at the 33rd edition of the Housekeeping Olympics, where employees from various luxury hotels in Las Vegas competed against each other.

“The Housekeeping Olympics returned to Las Vegas yesterday and Team Bellagio won gold,” Las Vegas Locally tweeted on X on Tuesday, sharing surreal photos from the event, The Sun reported Wednesday.

At the heart of the 12,000-capacity Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, rows of beds to make, carpets to sweep and mop competitions have been set up to allow cleaning staff from different hotels to take part in various events.

Among the teams, the employees of the Park MGM Hotel, the ARIA hotel complex and casino and the Luxor Hotels bowed to the employees of the Bellagio luxury hotels, who won first place.

“It’s really special for me,” said Feve Rodriguez from the winning team proudly to “Fox Las Vegas,” according to British media.

On X, internet users would have liked the event to be better publicized.

“I would watch that every day instead of Formula 1. Why didn’t we know it was happening? Seriously; Let’s stop traffic for this and let them circulate in the middle of the street,” commented one of the first, comparing the Family Olympics with Saturday’s race, also held in Las Vegas.

“My mother would have won,” laughed a second person in the comments.
