Vale o Escrito, play’s most watched series, returns with violent episodes TV

The documentary series Vale o Escrito A Guerra do Jogo do Bicho has been given the green light to produce a second season on Globoplay, but the continuity of the project still depends on negotiations with those interviewed. The work has become one of the most consumed products on the streaming platform since its debut and tells the story of the underworld of Jogo do Bicho in Rio de Janeiro, including family conflicts, militias and bloody revenge plots.

In the new episodes, Globo wants to include previously undiscussed parts of characters frequently mentioned in the series, such as Marcos Falcon, former president of the Portela samba school, and Luizinho Drumond, leader of the Imperatriz Leopoldinense. Falcon met a tragic end in 2016 when he died from a gunshot in Madureira after suffering other attacks.

Drumond died in 2020 after a stroke and was convicted in 1993 of participating in the animal game and staging other deaths involving rivals. He was with other characters who already appeared in the documentary: Castor de Andrade, Captain Guimarães and Anísio Abraão David. The information comes from the Play column of the O Globo newspaper.

O TV news noted that the second season is Globo’s wish, but it is still uncertain whether negotiations with the new characters will lead to the longawaited sequel. The narrative of Vale o Escrito is based on statements from rather dangerous figures from a violent universe that can pose risks for both the speaker and the person conducting the conversation.

The report assumed that interview negotiations for the first seven episodes took up to a year before people agreed to speak and were conducted in secrecy. The characters in the story are influential figures in the world of Rio de Janeiro Carnival and have brought to light information about crimes and secrets that were kept secret for years.
