There are those who believe that destiny follows different paths to connect people. For example, who could expect to find their significant other in a robbery? Or in a hit and run? Who knows while casting a movie? Or in an educational activity.
- UNDERSTAND: What is the difference between love and passion?
- OXYTOCINE: find out more about the “love hormone”.
to celebrate valentines daythis Sunday (12), the g1 spoke to four couples from Brasilia who have unusual love stories full of “plot twists” — radical changes in the expected or predicted direction of a plot — or who have defied fate, time, and even luck to be together.

Passion arises when and where you least expect it, and love at first sight can happen as well. This was the story of entrepreneurs Patrícia Santos, 25, and Guilherme Carvalho, 23, who have been brought together by fate three times, the first time in an attempted robbery in 2017.
Patricia and Guilherme were on their way home and were both leaving school. Then he was finally stopped by two teenagers on a bicycle: It was an attempted robbery.
Patricia saw the scene and, who knows, even because of the presence of the young woman, the robbers finally gave up and took nothing. The couple did not know each other.
”He [Guilherme] He quickened his pace and I tried to catch up to understand what had happened. In the end, in the rush and nervousness, we didn’t even exchange phone numbers. But I found him very cute,” says Patricia.
A while later, fate or whatever the name is caused the two to meet again. “I was working on the computer and then I saw these messages with friend suggestions. It was him,” recalls Patricia.
Even before dating Guilherme, she said she had already jokingly commented that she was going to marry him. Until 2019, the third chance at romance showed up.
They say that they have overcome several setbacks, like moving to another city, the lack of contact, but that everything has been overcome. Currently Guilherme and Patrícia are married and the parents of Manuela who is almost 2 years old.
“I say I’ve fallen in love with Guilherme three times,” says Patricia.

For Vitória Mesquita, 23, and Gabriel Lima, 24, it was love at first sight. The model and the digital influencer met at an educational project in 2019 when Vitória was still dating another young man.
“In the end I fell in love with Gabriel at first sight, I thought he was very beautiful and he is the love of my life,” says Vitória.
The lovers with Down syndrome dream of getting married and living alone. The two work with internet content to demystify the stigmas of the syndrome.
Vitória has already added some achievements in this regard. Last year, she got the world’s largest search engine to change the definition of the syndrome, which was previously defined as a “disease.” Based on Vitória’s work, Google began classifying trisomy 21 as a “genetic condition”.
“Gabriel’s dream is to study music in New York and mine is a successful career. We will do this together,” says Vitória.

During the Covid19 pandemic, many singles used dating apps to meet people. This is how the paths of marketing analyst Brenda Battaglia and lawyer Guilherme Mendes crossed.
After exchanging many messages and stickers through the app, including a fake marriage proposal, they decided to set up a meeting. However, on the appointed day, Brenda found out she had Covid and they couldn’t see each other in person.
Time passed, the virtual topics became fewer, but the two did not stop talking. After the period of social isolation was over, Brenda visited relatives in a residential complex in Brasília.
When it was time to leave, as she backed the car to leave, the marketing analyst realized she’d hit “something.” By fate or conspiracy of the universe Brenda ran over Guilherme, who lived in the same condominium.
“I only felt a slight impact. I got out of the car in despair and when I saw him I was ashamed,” the young woman recalls.
Brenda says her car was very dirty “besides everything” and that Guilherme got up off the floor to clean the dust.
“The first thing he said to me was, ‘This is the only way we can get to know each other,'” says Brenda.
After that there was no way, the couple never parted.
Gabriel and Helo: a love for cinema

Filmmaker and drama student Gabriel Scorsin and producer and film student Helô Laranjeira have what they call an “almost movielike” storyline. They met at a “casting” for an adventure short film.
At the time, Helô was dating someone else and Gabriel had just gotten out of a relationship. When they were cast for the role of a couple in the short, the young man recalls that he “had to hold back his feelings” because he was infatuated with the girl.
With the Covid19 pandemic, production on the film was put on hold and the pair did not see each other during isolation. “We had exchanged some messages to settle some things about the film, but that was all, so much so that his contact was saved as ‘Gabriel the boy from the game’s casting’ and that was the only interaction,” says helo.
“But I had the feeling that I still had a lot ahead of me,” says the film student.
When Gabriel started producing the final course work (TCC) in 2021, he did a new casting for the production of the film together with colleagues. Guess who was in line?
Helô was again cast as a partner to Gabriel’s character. “I’ve always had a bit of a crush on him, but I was afraid of being rejected, so I kept to myself,” says the young woman.

During rehearsals, the couple grew closer. They became very good friends, she says, who swore they weren’t in love.
After another day of shooting, Gabriel invited Helô. “I thought he was just doing it to rest from a busy week, me with the sets and he with the CBT,” she says. However, the student was surprised by a treasure hunt that bore some similarities to the setting of the film they were part of.
“When we met from ‘Uncharted,’ I was trying to adapt a scene from the first game where the characters we wanted to play, Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher, approach each other emotionally on a boat on a sunset adventure . I paid for a late afternoon boat ride on Lake Paranoá, exactly on November 19th, the date the game was released, to make the date proposal,” says Gabriel.
During the tour, Gabriel remembers making a joke. “My character always wore a necklace with an ancestral ring. When we went to the lake I was wearing Nathan’s regular ring [o personagem] so as not to deliver the surprise. But during the ride, I got up, went to the back of the boat, and exchanged Nathan’s ring for one marked “Player 1.”
“We were approaching the JK Bridge and she came towards me. So I said we were about to find the “treasure”. She looked at the map and saw the note “Check out the ring” just below our location. She noticed the other ring labeled ‘Player 1’ and shortly after that I showed her the ring labeled ‘Player 2’,” adds Gabriel.
Brenda understood the scene and the declaration of love was made, just like in the movie.
