Valérie Plante gives news about her health –

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante will be absent Monday morning when the municipal council meets to vote on the 2024 budget, after enduring nearly a week of discomfort at a news conference.

Ms. Plante made the announcement on her X account (Twitter) early Monday, saying she was feeling better but still needed to “slow down her activities.”

“This morning the municipal council is meeting to vote on the City of Montreal's 2024 budget. I would like to thank my elected colleagues who will exceptionally take on this occasion. I have to continue to slow down the pace of my activities, although fortunately I am feeling better and better. I will be back by your side as soon as possible.”

Last Tuesday, Valérie Plante had a weakness at a press conference in front of journalists.

“Oh no, I’m not feeling well,” she said half-heartedly before plopping down behind her lectern at City Hall.

A few seconds before her fall, Ms. Plante suddenly fell silent while answering a question from a journalist in English. She then sat on the floor with a pale face and downcast eyes. His team immediately came to help him.

Ms. Plante was not transported by ambulance.

The cause of his illness was not publicly disclosed, but it was the second such incident in several months.
