The death of 22-year-old Ben Mizrachi was confirmed Tuesday by his former high school, which was also the first to report his disappearance on Saturday. The Vancouver resident was shot dead by Hamas attackers including Montrealer Alexandre Look.

“Ben was larger than life and had a strong personality that rivaled his size. He was full of joy, smiled at everyone and was always helpful. “Ben was everyone’s friend and was so proud of his service in the Israel Defense Forces,” Russ Klein, principal of King David Jewish School in Vancouver, said on Facebook.

Liberal MP Taleeb Noormohamed also confirmed his death.

“A wonderful young man from my time in Vancouver-Granville – Ben Mizrachi – was among those killed by Hamas terrorists. My condolences and prayers go out to his family, friends, loved ones and the community,” he wrote on the social network X.

The Vancouver Sun reported Monday that the young man’s father and mother flew to Israel in hopes of finding him.

“I was with the family and there are no words […] “In a situation like this, there is nothing to say,” Rabbi Jonathan Infeld of the Beth Israel Synagogue told the daily.
