According to the Sun, she made the decision to star on the show apparently after months of discussions with show bosses who were keen to sign her.
TalkTV host Vanessa, who split from Ben in February, was the first celebrity to agree to be a part of the new series.
A source told the publication, “When Vanessa was first approached for the show she wasn’t 100% sure as the breakup was very fresh and she didn’t want to rush anything.”
“Now she’s had time to think about it and decided to give it a try.” Seeing their relationship meet a devastating, unexpected end after 16 years made her realize that life is short and you have to take chances when they come your way .
They added, “She’s not necessarily expecting to find her soulmate, but she’s also keeping an open mind because stranger things have happened.”
“At 61, she wants to have fun, enjoy life and try new things – and that’s a perfect fit.”

Vanessa is one of the biggest names the Channel 4 bosses have snapped up for the show and they consider her appearance on the show a real coup.
The source revealed that bosses are sure she will be the show’s main attraction and that viewers will be entranced by her on her quest to find Mr. Right.
Ben claimed he was “out of control” in the wake of his recent cheating scandal and his life was only “saved” by a starring role on new London show Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding.
Back in February, his ex-fiancé Vanessa Feltz, 61, revealed she had split from her partner of 17, alleging he had been unfaithful to her and exchanged “sex texts” with another woman, which he later confirmed.
The 50-year-old singer was soon the victim of vile trolls about his personal life, leading to him feeling like everything was “taking his head off” while he struggled with his mental health.
Still mourning the death of his brother Roy, who recently passed away aged just 47 from an “unexpected medical crisis,” Ben is beginning to empathize with those who “feel like there’s no way out.”
But once the role of Vinnie Black materialized in the immersive wedding experience, he was able to throw himself into his newest job and escape from the outside world.

The Phats & Small star exclusively told Web: “Tony and Tina’s wedding literally saved my life.” Literally saved my life. I had two big concerns. My brother passed away and shortly after that my relationship with Vanessa broke down.
“It’s a 17-year relationship.” And man, I was just getting out of control. I just felt like it was all coming my way, my entire life, with the trolling and backlash I got from my breakup with Vanessa.
“I understand that people are just saying things and voicing their opinions, but I kind of understand now that people feel like there’s no way out and they just want to end it all.”
“I can understand that subscribing to it and reading all the comments and stuff like that makes you feel really terrible as a person even if you try to forgive yourself and you can’t forgive yourself because nobody does.” I’ll forgive you and then you can’t even forgive yourself.’
