It was an unusual scenario that unfolded under the amazed looks of some witnesses present on the Viard beach in Petit-Bourg this Sunday morning (December 4, 2022): just before 10.45 a.m. when a car was partially destroyed by fire , at the site’s first parking lot, they saw a young West Indian come out, burst into flames, rush to the sea, and dive.
Arrived on site very quickly, the Petit-Bourg barracks were not far away, the firefighters pulled him out of the water and gave him first aid at sea before the mobile emergency and resuscitation service (SMUR) arrived. , which the doctor took over.

The victim has severe burns. She was conscious when paramedics arrived. The man was taken to the University Hospital Center of Guadeloupe (CHUG).
