Velveeta shocks with new cheese cocktail: ‘Straight to Jail’

That sounds cheesy.

Velveeta Cheese has released a new martini inspired by their famous yellow dairy bricks — and it’s called the Veltini.

The drink features cheese-infused vodka, along with Velveeta-stuffed olives and large Velveeta bowls.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the glass also includes a rim dripping with savory cheese.

But fans won’t be able to get the drink in stores. The processed cheese product brand has partnered with BLT Restaurant Group and only a few of the steakhouse chain’s locations will offer the cocktail for $15 during a “golden hour” from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m

The drink won’t be around forever either, as it will only be on the menu for a limited time and while supplies last. BLT restaurant locations offering the drink include New York, Washington, DC and Charlotte, North Carolina.

For customers unable to travel to these cities, online grocery marketplace Goldbelly offers meal packages for the Velveeta Martini.

The $50 box comes complete with a recipe card, Velveeta merch, two martini glasses, a gold cocktail shaker, an olive jar, a box of Velveeta jumbo clams and cheese, and their cheese sauce for topping the vodka.

The Twittersphere seemed visibly horrified by the alcoholic beverage and was torn on whether or not to try it.

“Straight to jail. They said they are more than happy to broadcast [me] Rehearsing… dare I?” WCNC presenter Meilin Tompkins asked Twitter.

Another person disapproving added: “There are abominations in this world that just shouldn’t exist, and King Velveeta Martini tops the list.”

“A mac-and-cheese martini that screams ‘I’m giving up — but make it classy,'” one user joked.

“The only way this could get MORE screwed up is if it was also radioactive,” someone wrote.

Scott Cronin, senior vice president of BLT Restaurant Group, described the new menu item as a “delicious, over-the-top cocktail” in a statement.

“We worked closely with the brand to realize this vision and balance the flavors of a signature martini with the nostalgic cheese flavor we all know and love from Velveeta,” he said.
