Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro met his Guinea-Bissau counterpart Umaro Sissoco Embaló on Monday to strengthen cooperative ties.

The meeting took place at the Miraflores Palace in Caracas (capital), seat of government, and was the second meeting between the two heads of state, according to a press release from the president.
“It is an honor to have him in the homeland of (Simón) Bolívar to further consolidate exchange ties within the framework of South-South cooperation and the bilateral complementarity agenda,” President Maduro said after the meeting.

Earlier, the President of Guinea-Bissau met with Venezuela’s Executive Vice-President Delcy Rodríguez as part of strengthening bilateral relations.
The day before, President Sissoco Embaló arrived in Venezuela on an official working visit and was received by Foreign Minister Yván Gil.
“With his visit, he reaffirms the bonds of historic brotherhood that unite our nations and the desire to continue building a comprehensive map of cooperation,” said the Venezuelan Foreign Minister via his Twitter account.
Last November, both leaders met in Caracas, where they signed a joint declaration as part of strengthening ties in areas including health, education, oil and housing.
