Venezuela welcomes the proposal to hold a high-level meeting with neighboring Guyana on December 14 in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, with the aim of maintaining the goal of maintaining Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace without interference from external actors.
A statement from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry indicated that this next meeting was agreed upon by both countries within the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac).
In the same text, it was announced that President Nicolás Maduro spoke with the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and also interim President of Celac, Ralph Gonsalves, and the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization have (UN), Antonio Guterres.
The Venezuelan head of state said via the social network Once again we will defeat the lies, provocations and threats against our people. Our country will win!
The details of the meeting were confirmed in a letter Gonsalves addressed to the Venezuelan head of state and President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Irfaan Ali. Furthermore, Gonsalves confirmed this during a press conference this Saturday.
Maduro Moros had telephone conversations with Lula and Gonsalves. Venezuela was satisfied and accepted the call with approval and commitment.
Both calls ratified the historic position on Venezuela's indisputable sovereign rights over Guyana Esequiba.
Furthermore, the legitimate and peaceful nature of the Venezuelan claim was made clear, strictly adhering to the provisions of the 1966 Geneva Convention as well as the principles and values that inspire Bolivarian peace diplomacy.
In addition, President Maduro Moros spoke with Antonio Guterres, who was committed to promoting direct dialogue between the parties, recalling that he had always offered his good offices to resolve the controversy.
