Venezuela calls for addressing environmental challenges in the face of the climate crisis

Bolivarian Foreign Minister Yván Gil, in his speech at the Summit of the Three Ecosystems of Biodiversity and Tropical Forests, emphasized the importance of this three-day meeting that ended this Saturday.

Gil considered that the event was an opportunity to unite in action the territories that bear great responsibility for addressing the challenges posed by the climate crisis, which threatens the existence of life itself on the planet.

He emphasized the need to maintain and preserve in a sustainable manner all existing resources in the regions: Amazon, Africa and Asia, which, he said, “makes our regions the crucial point to be able to assume that in will be the case in 200 years.” is human life as we know it.

The head of Venezuelan diplomacy reiterated the commitment of the Bolivarian Republic to contribute to the initiative of the Congolese government, assuring that these proposals foresee the geopolitical strength and influence of the aforementioned regions to sue the hegemonic powers.

As do the large transnational corporations that promote excessive consumption of natural resources in order to meet their international obligations under the principle of shared responsibility, he added.

However, it is different from the provision of new and additional resources for the sustainable growth of developing countries through cooperation.

The Chancellor emphasized the primary role of promoting and implementing South-South cooperation to create strategic alliances and necessary mechanisms that lead to the mobilization and management of resources for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.

He pointed out that the countries with the largest river basins on earth face major challenges in achieving the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda.

In this sense, he mentioned the exploitation of heavy minerals, illegal hunting and trafficking of species, deforestation and environmental pollution due to the unsustainable production and consumption patterns of the most developed countries and the main capitalist economies of the world.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister stressed the need for unity to stop the negative consequences of the climate crisis and not just be a spectator as global warming and climate change progress colossally in the regions.

Gil called for respecting the right to development without restrictions or hindrances imposed by unilateral coercive measures that prevent and limit the ability to invest in the sustainable development of people and access to clean technologies to conserve their resources and strategic ecosystems.
