Caracas, May 4th (RHC) – Venezuela solidifies international solidarity after establishing 18 friendship groups to strengthen ties with other friendly nations.

The groups are headed by an equal number of deputies who were sworn in the previous day at the ordinary session of the National Assembly (AN).

“The whole country recognizes the situation of peace, hope and, above all, constructive work to strengthen relations with all countries of the world in a climate of respect for the sovereignty, self-determination and independence of peoples,” said the President to the Legislative Body, Jorge Rodríguez during the ceremony.

For his part, MP Timoteo Zambrano pointed out that friendship groups are at the heart of parliamentary diplomacy, which at various times in international relations works not only politically but also economically and with advances in commercial and cultural exchanges.

The elected parliamentarians represent the country in international bodies and forums in the nations to which they have been assigned.

The countries with which the Friendship Groups have been established are: China, Russia, Iran, Turkey, North Korea, Qatar, Vietnam, Cuba, Nicaragua, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Belarus, India, Uruguay, Palestine and Italy. (Source: Latin Press)
