Caracas, 1 April (EFE) .- The government of Venezuela celebrated this Friday the adoption of a resolution tabled by the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) before the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) on the “negative effects” of international sanctions Citizenship.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia celebrated the resolution via his Twitter account, where he expressed his satisfaction at the “strong rejection” of the sanctions by the “large majority” of Council members.

“We welcome the NAM resolution on the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures on the perception of human rights, which was adopted by a large majority in the UN Human Rights Council with 27 yes votes,” wrote the Chancellor.

He also insisted that the sanctions were a “criminal scourge” and that their imposition violated the principles of international law and the UN Charter.

“We are the undisputed majority. Venezuela continues to firmly reject the criminal scourge of unilateral coercive measures, along with 120 member countries of the NAM and other nations of the international community that respect the principles of international law, multilateralism and the UN Charter,” Plasencia said.

The resolution urges all states to end sanctions they deem “contradictory” with “norms and principles that govern peaceful relations (…), that impede trade relations and the full realization of the rights set out in the Universal Declaration.” prevent human rights”.
