Véronique Cloutier responds to a review of “Zénith” – Showbizz.net

On Thursday evening it was the turn of Yves P. Pelletier (Boomers), Barnev (X), Bryan Audet (Y) and Clodelle (Z) to present their performance on the Zénith show, which is intended to appeal to all generations.

While Barnev received the five additional points from the audience and his total score was 100, Bryan Audet also did very well, adapting AC/DC's “Thunderstruck” with elements from his childhood. His unusual performance earned him 93 points. Despite their obvious commitment, Clodelle (85) and Yves P. Pelletier (90) were less impressive.

The day after the broadcast, an Internet user posted a comment on Véronique Cloutier's Facebook page challenging the presenter.

“Small comment that I hope is constructive: it seems to me that English-language music is much more present, both in performances and in karaoke, than last year. I think it's a shame that French-language songs are almost the exception. Anyway, congratulations to the whole team,” he said.

Véronique Cloutier answers as follows: “We attach great importance to balance, that's a real concern for us!” The challenge is a license 😉 We don't force anything on anyone, but we try to present French-language songs in a balanced way, especially in the encores 😊 »

Another person joined the conversation and added their opinion. “In the memories exactly! Just memories in French. The participants would be aware of this and as long as they take the step, we will do it in French! In the current encores, 50% English-language songs are offered… let's at least reduce the proportion to 25%. If we want to save our language, it can be done through French-language television. »

Although the use of English is sometimes disproportionate to French at Zénith, this was not a dramatic problem this week. Half of the invited artists had chosen a piece in French and as a reminder, three of the four songs were French-language pieces from Quebec. Bryan Audet sang “Voyager sans toi” by Mario Pelchat, Clodelle covered “Et c'est pas fini” by Star Académie and Yves P. Pelletier played “Shoplift” by Trois Accords. Only Barnev preferred Shawn Mendes over Roxane Bruneau…

Next week, Véronique Cloutier welcomes Jano Bergeron (Boomers), Steve Veilleux (X), Alex Nevsky (Y) and Lyxé (Z) aka Sarah-Maude Desgagné to her set.

Remember that the holder of the highest score so far goes to this great artist who caused a huge stir at the first show of the season.
