Veronica Ciardi and Federico Bernardeschi they told each other in Silvia Toffanin’s studio at Verissimo. This is their first interview as a couple. The pair particularly spoke about their new life in Toronto, where they said they’ve had a great time with their daughters. “Unfortunately, in the world of football, you always see when you’re going to get there. But behind the man there is always a story that unfortunately can never be seen,” said the former Juve player. He then turned directly to the presenter: “I would like to thank you for giving us this opportunity to tell about us as a couple and as a man and woman. It’s really a pleasure to be here.”
The 28-year-old spoke about the sacrifices his parents made and the heart problems he had when he was 16. Luckily, things got better and Federico was able to achieve his dream of becoming a footballer. About their story, the couple said it all started after a deep friendship in Formentera: “We started writing to each other as if we were each other’s secret diaries. We came out of two specific stories, so we started telling each other, and that’s when I fell in love with his soul,” the ex-Gieffina confessed. He then admitted that he was initially scared because of her age difference. In fact, Veronica is nine years older than her husband.
The two wed in 2021, but there were two proposals before the fateful day. In fact, Ciardi had initially rejected the midfielder: “We were on the road, I had everything prepared and am making this suggestion. She looks to the side and I get on my knees. But he didn’t turn around. I waited and never turned around.” Toffanin then commented, “No, I don’t think so. I’m sorry Veronica, but that’s a bit too much!“. “She didn’t say no, she said yes right away because the love was there. But afterwards he approached me and said, look, we have other things to do before this step. But I have to say that he’s been right so far,” Federico clarified immediately. The final yes came while watching a movie on the couch. Ciardi was then moved to speak about her father, who died in 2020: “We wanted him to accompany me to the altar. And then, unfortunately he didn’t make it“.
