Vice President Harris visits the historic restaurant in Atlanta after the Celebration Bowl – WSB Atlanta

ATLANTA – Before Vice President Kamala Harris returned to Washington, D.C. after the Cricket Celebration Bowl, she stopped at a historic restaurant in Atlanta.

After the big game between Howard University and Florida A&M at Mercedes Benz Stadium on Saturday, many were looking for the after-party and the Busy Bee Café in Atlanta, the dinner with the US Vice President.

“I love meeting my friends who are small business owners and building the economy,” Harris said WSB Tonight's Larry Spruill.

The restaurant opened in 1947 and has been one of the best places to get “the South on your plate” ever since.

“[Small businesses] make up a large part of the United States economy,” said Tracy Gates, the restaurant owner. “We employ several people and are committed not only to our business, but also to our employees.”

Before Harris left, Spruill asked her if she had any messages for Georgia voters.

“Well, the voters here in Georgia are so important,” she said. “All issues that affect our country affect the people of Georgia.”

Dr. Nathan Price, an associate professor of political science at the University of North Georgia, said the vice president's visit was no coincidence.

“Georgia is one of seven states that will decide the 2024 election. “Recent polls for President Biden have been really bad in these swing states, and that's partly because he's soft on groups like African Americans who came out strongly in support of him in 2020,” Price said. “If he doesn’t have the same level of support, it’s hard to imagine him winning this state again.”
