It appears that a Lone Star State rivalry will be the basis of French phenomenon Victor Wembanyama’s debut in the NBA.
According to NBA reporter marc stoneWembanyama’s first game is “probably scheduled for October 25,” with rookie team San Antonio Spurs hosting the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic.
It’s the highly anticipated league debut for one of the most hyped talents in NBA history.
Just a few months ago, he was drafted first in this year’s NBA draft by San Antonio.
Since then, Wembanyama has decided to try and “disappear” after a lengthy drafting process, a long season in the French league and playing in the NBA’s Summer League.

Wembanyama’s stint in the Summer League was brief – just a couple of games – and after that he decided to take a much-needed vacation while he began to build his life off the field in San Antonio.
“I don’t think basketball was even 50% of my schedule for the last month,” Wembanyama said last month. “I can not stand. I know it’s a special moment in my life, but I’m glad it’s over. I just want to jump.
“I just want to train, train, because that’s my life.” Of course, every first (overall) pick has to go through that, but yeah, it just makes me better for the future.”
Wembanyama also had to deal with a Britney Spears scandal when her attempts to hit him were met with violence by the NBA player’s security personnel.
He’ll likely be back on the court for the start of the NBA preseason in early October — the Spurs’ first game is against Oklahoma City.
