The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating what appears to be a fatal accident after the body of a 23-year-old man was discovered on Arthabaska Boulevard West in Victoriaville.
It was a passer-by who made the sad discovery of the lifeless person early on Saturday at the level of the holding park and alerted the emergency services at around 5 a.m.

The lifeless body of a young man was found by a citizen on the street near Halte d’Arthabaska Park in Victoriaville early Saturday. Arthabaska Boulevard West (Route 116) was closed to traffic following the tragedy.
Analysis of the crime scene, particularly the presence of debris and the injuries sustained by the deceased, strongly suggests to police that the young man was hit by a vehicle, which subsequently fled.
Death registered on site
“Everything indicates that it could be a fatal hit-and-run,” said SQ spokesman Stéphane Tremblay.
Unfortunately, nothing could be done to save the victim, who was pronounced dead on the spot.
His identity had not been announced at the time of writing this article.
It was the Major Crimes Division that was tasked with shedding light on the case.
