Four years after Lima in the eyes of the world thanks to the Pan American and Parapan American GamesThe Republic visited the facilities hosting the sporting event that paralyzed the country to learn about the maintenance and use of that infrastructure.
These places are currently managed by the Proyecto Especial de Legado, headed by Álvaro Castro Guzmán as General Manager since last December. This facility, which is part of the Ministry of Transport, has an annual budget of more than 100 million soles that is used for maintenance.
The company also generates revenue from venue rentals by national sports federations when they are planning an international tournament or event. In addition, some of the infrastructures of embassies and international institutions were needed to hold trade fairs. Add to that the fact that they work hand in hand with various sports federations and organizations sports workshops is aimed at children, young people and adults.
“Today we are concentrating on making the venues more convivial; We work with the schools around our headquarters to enable them to use the facilities for their physical education classes, and we also create a social opening for recreation and healthy use of the facilities, such as the Festi Legado, a set of family and sports activities free to the public. They take place every three weeks in the different facilities,” Castro said.

sporting heritage
Videna has the most modern sports infrastructure in the Americas region. This sports city is home to the Aquatic Center certified by the International Swimming Federation (fina). It is also home to the Estadio Atlético, a venue that meets Olympic standards.
There are also multipurpose facilities, referred to as Sports Center 1, Sports Center 2 and Sports Center 3 (since different disciplines and sporting events take place there, such as judo, karate, badminton, among others). More than 3,000 athletes and para-sportsmen, who are only accredited by their respective sports associations, train in these venues.

The Sports Center Legado Villa El Salvador has a total area of 48,554.54 square meters and gymnastics is practiced in all its forms. The High Performance Surf Center at Legado Punta Rocas headquarters is the only one in the Americas. Beach volleyball, speed skating, BMX, road cycling and road paracycling are practiced at the Costa Verde headquarters, which can accommodate up to 2,000 spectators.

What tournaments are this month?
The infrastructure of Lima 2019 is now the venue for international tournaments. In June, Videna will host the I National University Indoor Handball Championship Peru Cup 2023 Female-Male, Santiago 2023 Table Tennis Qualifiers, the 2023 National University Opening Karate Championship and the 2023 National University Opening Chess Championship, among others.
