Amidst the tragedies surrounding the Turkey earthquake, there were some miracles. A man who was swept away when part of the hospital collapsed spent 11 days under the rubble. He was found in extremis.
Mustafa Avci thought he would never be able to hold his daughter in his arms. In fact, she was born on the morning of February 6th, the day of the terrible earthquakes that shook Turkey. When the hospital in Antioch (Turkey) began to collapse, the father of the family went down a few floors for a coffee. If the little girl escaped unharmed with her mother, the man would be thrown to the ground and buried. Now he is at risk of amputation.
Guided by his survival instinct
“I stayed in the same position, one leg in the air, for eleven days. Basically, I didn’t want to go out at all because I didn’t know what had become of my wife and daughter,” she says of the survivor. He perseveres, guided by his survival instinct. “There were plants outside. I chewed the roots and swallowed the juice. When I was really thirsty, I started drinking my urine,” recalls the wonderful.
