At least 14 people were injured, three of them seriously, when an escalator at a subway station in Seoul, South Korea, unexpectedly rolled back Thursday morning.

CCTV footage released by local police shows the surreal scene filmed at Sunae Station in the south of the capital, the Korea Herald reports.

The escalator meant to go up suddenly begins to descend, forcing the users against each other. Some people are even pushed and pushed aside.

At least three people were seriously injured in the incident, including backs and legs, and eleven others were treated for minor injuries.

The escalator was later closed for investigation. Some witnesses at the time thought that the shooting of a movie was so busy that the scene seemed unreal.

The staircase was inspected last May and showed no abnormalities.

Such an incident also happened in one of the busiest subway stations in Rome in October 2018, in which more than 20 people were injured.
