Video games: Eidos Montreal cuts 97 positions

Video game studio Eidos Montreal announced Monday the layoffs of 97 employees across its development, administration and support teams.

“The global economic context, the challenges in our industry and the global restructuring announced by Embracer have definitively impacted our studio,” the company said in a message published on X, citing a “difficult decision” to be made .

The company said it wanted to “support all affected employees through this transition.” “These very talented and experienced people are entering the job market; We want them to find their future projects and we help them with that,” Eidos Montréal added.

Recall that in 2022, the Swedish group Embracer acquired Eidos Montreal at the same time as two other North American studios, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix Montreal, for a total of $300 million.
