The Iowa State Fair’s annual husband-calling contest, in which women uniquely call out their partner’s name, has gained traction online after a clip shared by TikToker @rhinestonecowboy went viral, amassing over 16.5 million views.

From loudly yelling “Bob” to yelling “Terry,” the woman showed off her impressive vocal cords to win a whopping $5.

At the annual Husband Calling Contest, wives shout, sing, screech, and yodel their partners’ names

The video begins with a woman who won fifth place yelling, “Bob, bob, bob, bob, hurry up. I don’t want to be late.’ The fourth-placed followed and delivered an impressive yodel with her husband’s name.

Next, one woman decided to sing her husband’s name in an operatic style, while the runner-up went for a classic take and simply called out “Daryl.”

And finally, the winner, Bonnie Swalell Eilert, screamed her husband Roy’s name so high many weren’t even sure it existed, before angrily adding, “Can you hear me? You’re pulling yourself right in here. Come on! You know you’ll be late again, and you know I want to be there on time.”

According to State Fair marketing director Mindy Williamson, the unique husband reputation contest is held at Pioneer Hall each year

It boasts 12 to 15 different wives screaming their husbands’ names every year

One woman started by yodeling “Roy” before adding, “Honey, come in here.”

Another woman really gave her all in her performance when she was seen jumping up and down while yelling, “Terry, you get over here right away.”

And in true Iowa fashion, the next woman called out to her husband, Stan, to “help with the cattle.”

The next woman proudly sang “Troy,” while another yelled at her husband Jared to help “with the babies.”

And then Master Camellia Pohl appeared and, according to social media users, gave a “modern art performance” and rolled her Rs while yelling at Randy and throwing her hands in the air.

In a post-competition interview, the winner revealed that she was “thinking about doing her opera singing and rolling the Rs,” but all her family members told her to go for the second option.

And as if a husband call contest wasn’t whimsical enough, the fair also features mom call, pig call, and chicken call contests.
