After the train crash, there are clashes between demonstrators and the police in Athens
University students and railway workers protested in central Athens against the deadliest accident in Greece. They say the country’s rail system is precarious and that it was a matter of time before that happened.
The train that went from Athens to the northern city of Thessaloniki was crowded with students returning from a long vacation.
According to Portal, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said the accident was caused by human error. However, Mitsotakis said on Sunday that human error should not detract from the responsibilities of a longstanding rail network.
