Major Australia is currently being hit by severe flooding. Direct consequences of this storm? Crocodiles have been spotted in the city in the streams that flow through the streets.
“The amount of rainfall is unprecedented,” Queensland Premier Steven Miles told reporters on Monday. A tropical cyclone actually hit the island. Hundreds of people were evacuated in the towns and villages most affected by the floods. In Cairns, the highways connecting the city are under water, the airport is completely under water, further in Wujal Wujal, witnesses say that the 300-inhabitant village is nothing more than a “sea of dirty water and mud”.
And as an unexpected consequence of this weather, hundreds of crocodiles are caught in the torrential rains and end up in the middle of the road, following the waves. A 2.5 m long specimen was even caught by the authorities. Videos show how Australians capture the animals to prevent them from attacking local residents.
