VIDEO | Three dead and nine injured in hangar collapse at Boise Airport

Three people died and nine others were seriously injured when a hangar under construction collapsed near Boise Airport in Idaho on Wednesday.

According to the New York Post, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. when a private company alerted authorities to the collapse of the steel scaffolding shed.

The city of Boise said in a news release that five of the people were still in critical condition after being transported to a hospital by emergency medical services.

“Everyone present at the scene was accounted for Wednesday evening,” Boise Fire Department Operations Chief Aaron Hummel said during a news conference.

“I don't know what caused this, but I can tell you it was a pretty global collapse,” he said, referring to a “catastrophic” accident, according to the local newspaper.

Big D Builders was responsible for the hangar construction project on behalf of Jackson Jet Center, a private aircraft charter and maintenance services company.

According to the airport authority, the accident did not impact operations at the Boise Airport while an investigation into the causes of the collapse was underway.
