In 2022, France 2 met a Ukrainian who wanted to protect his children from war. The “20 Hours” returned for news of this injured family.
Dacha has grown up and is now 14 years old. Masha, her little sister, is six. A year has passed since their first meeting with a France 2 team in Irpin, Ukraine. The city was then attacked by numerous Russian bombardments. However, her mother Anna refused to leave the country as she wanted to remain responsible for her own mother. Her husband wanted to flee Irpin to take their daughters to safety. The dispute was filmed by France 2 between two grenade hits.
The day after this disagreement, this Ukrainian family’s building was bombed again. Anna, hit by shrapnel, did not survive. “I see her, I take her in my arms and I understand that it’s over,” testified her husband today. He now lives with his two daughters in Germany, where France’s “20 heures” returned to visit family a year after the tragedy.
