Ukraine will experience its 667th day of conflict on Friday, December 22nd. The freezing cold and mud at the front, Viktor Orbán's support for Vladimir Putin and three Russian planes shot down… Here is what we must remember from that day of war.
image of the day
A Ukrainian soldier, hands clasped, frozen in the cold and covered with toes: the image was posted on social networks. This symbolic image illustrates the currently harsh conditions in the front trenches with freezing temperatures and a stagnant conflict.
Sentence of the day
It's Viktor Orbán's. Russia seems to be able to count on his unwavering support. He again called the Russian invasion of Ukraine a military operation: “It is a military operation as long as there is no declaration of war between the two countries,” he explained, repeating the formula that Putin had used from the first day of the war.
The number of the day
The air force commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said three Russian SU-34 fighter-bombers were shot down in southern Ukraine. A planned operation that the Ukrainians welcomed on the evening of December 22nd.
