Videotron subscribers: Major outage possibly caused by vandalism in Quebec

Many Videotron subscribers have been affected by a major outage in Quebec since Friday morning. This could possibly have been caused by vandalism.

The fiber failure resulted in the disruption of telecommunications services for certain customers in the Beauport, Charlesbourg, Courville, Lebourgneuf, Limoilou, Montmorency and Saint-Laurent-de-l’Île-d’Orléans sectors.

A report was also filed with Quebec City police, according to spokeswoman Marie-Pier Rivard.

“In the morning we were told about a possible crime related to the breakdown, so we will travel to analyze the matter,” she specifies.

Videotron teams were mobilized to the scene to restore service as quickly as possible.

On its website, the company said services should be gradually and fully restored to all customers by early evening.
