Tourism in the federal capital is back on track. Nightly net sales in January of 63.4 million euros surpassed the pre-Corona level for the same month in 2019 by 23%, Tourism Vienna announced on Tuesday.
In February, the dynamism was maintained: according to the information, the accommodations booked 881 thousand overnight stays and, therefore, 92% of the February level before the pandemic.
Most overnight bookings in Austria
Looking at the most important source markets, the most overnight orders in February came from Austria (199,000) and Germany (145,000). Italy (44,000), Great Britain (35,000), France and the USA (both 30,000), Spain (28,000), Poland (26,000), Ukraine (22,000) and Israel (20,000) followed at a considerable distance.
68,600 hotel beds available for booking in February in Vienna
The average occupancy of beds in hotels in February was 38 percent (same month last year: 20.5 percent), that of rooms around 48 percent (February 2022: around 26 percent). A total of around 68,600 hotel beds were available in Vienna in February – around 9,900 or 16.9% more than in February 2022.
Overnight net turnover in January was 312% higher than the same month last year, when lockdown measures were still in place in Austria due to the corona. February data is not yet available.
