Mrs Brown’s Boys have infuriated BBC viewers as they claim the show’s Christmas special has once again ruined the festive season.
Just 2.4million tuned in to BBC One to watch Sunday night’s Christmas episode, titled The Shining Mammy, with viewers claiming it was now “unwatchable”.
The last full series of Mrs Brown’s Boys aired in 2013 but has since returned for a series of festive specials.

The episode drew criticism from viewers, with many taking to Twitter to voice their opinions of the show.
One user wrote: “Mrs Brown’s Boys isn’t just stupid anymore, it’s now unwatchable, not funny at all, turned off after 13 minutes.”
Another wrote: “Mrs Brown’s Boys has arrived to ruin Christmas again”
A third said: “Christmas was just ruined catching a bit of Mrs Brown’s Boys because the batteries in my TV remote were dead.”
“Mrs Brown’s Boys or whatever it’s called is an instant jump to Christmas,” wrote one.

Mrs Brown’s Boys will return for four episodes after the Christmas Day 2023 special.
Actor Brendan O’Carroll, 67, who is appearing as Agnes Brown, revealed the postponement of filming during Covid meant there was a rush to book venues, resulting in them being unable to meet the needs of fans looking for more to satisfy Mrs Brown.
The Irish comedian, who created the sitcom, also admitted he gets “goosebumps” knowing the show has become a Christmas tradition for people every year.

Speaking to The Sun’s TV Mag, Brendan explained that the mini-series was meant to celebrate 100 years of the BBC.
He explained that the BBC was “adamant” about getting four episodes, so they booked studios for 2023 to start filming then.
The Dublin native went on to tell the publication his gratitude for the people who see his award-winning show as their Christmas celebration.
He said: “I absolutely love it – I get goosebumps that Mrs Brown has become a part of Christmas.

“That’s what people who come to the show say – ‘Oh, it wouldn’t be Christmas without Mrs. Brown.’ You’re kind of like, “Oh my god, we figured that out”.
“Because that was Morecambe and Wise in my day, it wasn’t Christmas without Morecambe and Wise, so it’s a buzz.”
This year’s Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas Special will air on BBC One after EastEnders at 10.25pm.
With the episode title “Shining Mammy”, the synopsis reads: “It’s Christmas again in Finglas and this year Cathy has a new boyfriend, Boris.
“Due to a last-minute change of plans, Agnes babysits the widower’s twins while he and Cathy head to Foley’s for a quiet, romantic drink.
“Not everyone is convinced he’s right for Cathy, and there are even suspicions that he might be a vampire.
“But it’s not Boris that Agnes is worried about; She has her own concerns about his creepy twins.’
A second special for 2022 will air on New Year’s Day at 10 p.m. called “Mammy’s Hair Loom.”
The synopsis explains: “Suspicion surrounds Cathy’s creepy boyfriend Boris.
“Buster and Dermot are convinced he’s a vampire and hatch a plan to save Cathy, leaving her embarrassed.
‘Sharon has problems with her boyfriend of her own, and Father Damien has been called away to look after some depressed chickens.
“Meanwhile, Buster convinces Agnes that she should have her antique vase appraised. Who knows how much it might be worth? “After all, it’s been passed down from generation to generation, and she plans to leave it to Cathy as her legacy.”
